The economic and financial crimes agency of the Nigerian government, EFCC, is set for the prosecution of a former chairman of the PDP, and ex-minister of defense, Haliru Bello Mohammed, and his son, Abbah Mohammed, for their alleged role in the diversion of funds meant for the procurement of arms in the office of the National Security Adviser (NSA).

The arms procurement was supposed to be used to supply adequate military hardware, munitions, light arms and heavy artillery for the prosecution of the internecine war against Islamic insurgency in Nigeria’s northeast where the Boko Haram held sway during the Jonathan administration.

The Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) reportedly and allegedly diverted the arms procurement funds to political and other usages through political chieftains of the PDP during the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan.
